  Ben Grossman is Kana’s winemaker since the
spring of 2007 and he has formal education in
fermentation science and is a tenured assistant
winemaker from Stimson-Lane (Ch. St.
Michelle) and Robert Craig Wineries. He had
previously worked at Windy-Point Winery before
joining the Kana team. Besides being a tenured winemaker, Ben
has extra training and experience in laboratory wine analysis and
hands-on vineyard management.
 Dr. Palmer Wright, is the proprietor of Kana
Winery since its inception back a few months
before its first crush of 2002, which produced
800 cases. He is a double board certified
Otolaryngologist (Ear, Nose & Throat) and Facial
Plastic Surgeon, with a busy practice in Yakima that
he started back in 1985. He has served as a wine judge and was a
hobbiest winemaker before taking the commercial winery plunge.
He does hands-on assisting of various winemaking duties and is
active in blending trials, vineyard selection and wine-style decision
making. He feels, as does winemaker Ben Grossman, that 90% of
winemaking is in the vineyard, and that it is important to interact
with Kana’s growers and walk the vineyards on a regular basis.
