Kana Winery 2007 MASTERPIECE, Yakima Valley, Reserve White is a Rhone-style blend of Viognier (62%), Roussanne (26%), and Marsanne (12%). The bulk of this wine’s fruit comes from Elephant Mountain Vineyard and a small but flavor-significant portion of Roussanne came from the new Two Coyote Vineyard. The fruit was harvested by hand, hand-sorted at crush and whole cluster pressed. The Roussanne and Marsanne were French oak barrel fermented and then barrel-aged sur lie, giving the wine richness in the palate. The Viognier was all vinified in stainless steel. Our Masterpiece is showing a gentle nose of citrus and stone fruits with hints of vanilla cream, Asian spice, and apple blossoms. The texture is creamy and the finish is long into nectarines, fresh cut apples and candied pears. This food-friendly white wine pairs well with most seafood dishes, including shellfish. Also try with imported and strong flavored cheeses.
